Citizen M

 photo 1_zps5241c536.jpg

This past weekend, Elliot and I stayed at Citizen M, Bankside.

We spent a few nights at the Amsterdam branch the previous weekend, but this was my first visit to the London branch. We had been out until mid morning from the night before and were feeling relatively jaded, so bussed half an hour southwards from home in the middle of the afternoon, checked in, and collapsed into bed, stopping only briefly at the nearby Borough Market for snack supplies.

Citizen M’s Tron-like womb pods feel as though they’ve been designed specifically to combat even the most severe hangover, with a boxed in cube bed that feels as though it’s been woven from dolphin dreams, and surplus pillows. We set the lights to a pulsating mauve, surrounded ourselves with our market spoils (pie and mash for Elliot, a salad box for me followed by a selection of pastries) and settled in for a slumber-inducing marathon of Come Dine With Me.

We awoke around midnight feeling significantly less like our brains were swimming through thick gravy and ducked across the road to Vapianos for dinner, the area surrounding the hotel is filled with cafes and shops during the day and a great selection of restaurants open late at night. We returned to our room once more and fell asleep instantly upon duvet contact.

The following morning we were treated downstairs to a buffet breakfast, Scandi style, with stewed fruits and yoghurt, cold meats and cheeses, and freshly squeezed juices alongside all the regular hot English breakfast favourites and a wide variety of pastries. I was tempted to organize a late check out, just to spend a moment more in the most infallible bed ever, but was feeling revitalized enough post-food to realize that if I had hopped back under the covers again, I risked losing the ability to ever leave, so we packed up what belongings we had with us, checked out, and caught the bus up the road, back home.

All in all, this was by far the most decadent and plushy cure for the previous nights misgivings that I’ve ever partaken in, and if I had my way, I’d do the same every weekend of my life.

I'm having a major clear out and am getting rid of a whole bunch of old clothes on the Depop app. If you have it, look me up @lauraallardfleischl, if you don't, download it, then find me! I'll ship anything nation wide and have loads more pieces to upload over the next few weeks.

Boots - KOSHKA / Dress - Anthropologie / Hat - Vintage / Blazer - MISSGUIDED / Necklace - ADORNOLOGY

These boots are literally my favourite boots in the entire world, and are from KOSHKA, one of the most delightful boutique stores I've ever had the pleasure of shopping with. I would seriously recommend checking out their stock. Now. The jacket is by MISSGUIDED and is the perfect narrow fit as well as being lightweight and having a little bit of stretch which makes it super comfortable.

The necklace is a beautiful gift from my parents who visited me here in the UK last month. It's an Afghani antique from my favourite stall at the Brick Lane markets, ADORNOLOGY.

Jacket - Vintage / Dress - MISSGUIDED / Glasses - Topshop / Hat - Vintage

I think I'm going to have to find a new hat soon. I wear this one too much. Goes well with this dress from MISSGUIDED though, I like how the pattern looks quite vintage and scarfy.

I recently shot my first cover, featuring Foxes, for Notion magazine. We essentially wound up with only 30 minutes to shoot 5 outfits, so I'm extremely pleased with how the shots turned out given the circumstances - a brilliant team and stunning subject helped of course! Sunglasses - Linda Farrow x Jeremy Scott / Top - BLACKFIVE / Skirt - Vintage

These are my 3rd pair of Linda Farrow sunglasses. I'm obsessed. I haven't really worn these ones seriously yet.. and I'm not sure I ever will. But they're great for dress ups or channeling my inner Elton.

As you may know from my last post, I was in Paris recently. I spent the entire trip feeling like a modern day Marie Antoinette (as in I have Austrian heritage and ate a lot of brioche, not so much the whole revolution and execution thing), largely thanks to SNAP TRAVELLER who helped make the trip so magical by setting up our accommodation with HOTEL LA DEMEURE.

HOTEL LA DEMEURE is a stunning, recently refurbished, boutique hotel on the corner of a wide, tree lined avenue, in the middle of the 13th arrondissement (Gobelins). Our room was located on one of the upper floors with tastefully modern decor, wooden floors and a little balcony overlooking the city with the Eiffel tower twinkling in the distance. The perfect breakfast spot. Of course La Demeure also offered it's own breakfast in their muraled dining room on the ground floor, featuring the most impressive jam selection I've seen in my life (I mixed violet into my yoghurt, and earl grey tea on my toasted brioche).

The hotel staff were all incredibly attentive and sweet and didn't mind at all letting Elliot and I back in during the wee hours after we returned from the equally impressive, David Lynch owned and styled, Silencio in Montmartre on our first night.

The second night we wound up returning to La Demeure after dinner and a long day of exploring with a bottle of wine and spent a night in - a real testament to the hotel, it's not often I'll choose to spend any longer than necessary in my lodgings when on vacation, however the view was so stunning, and the vibe so relaxed that I couldn't not this time around. The place is remarkably soundproofed too as we received no noise complaints the next day despite having blasted Johnny Cash and Led Zeppelin over the room's sound system most the night.

Overall it was an incredibly, peachy, sugar crusted, sunset and boulevard-y, laid back, mini escape from London and I'm already dying to return.

Huge thanks SNAP TRAVELLER, you are absolute superstars.

I was recently in Paris with my boyfriend, I have a photo diary to come, but for now, how awesome is this suit? It's like socially acceptable daytime pyjamas, FRONT ROW SHOP has a tonne of amazing, matchy pieces, definitely a new favourite store.

The photos are taken on the balcony of our stunning room at HOTEL LA DEMEURE, we were very lucky to stay in such a gorgeous location, and all thanks to the fantastic people at SNAP TRAVELLER. But more to come regarding that in the next post.
